Every summer holidays, since
1996, the council has been employing at least
100 students and pupils for two months each
holiday. At the end, they are paid some wages,
which help them obtain school requirements for
the new academic year.
Because of this, more children now attend school
in the Kumbo Urban Municipality, and there is a
great reduction in juvenile delinquencies as
these children are no longer idle. |

The Council decided to plan and implement income
- producing activities for the poor and to
reduce youth unemployment in a participatory
manner. Under this YES Project, 20 youth were
selected from more than 100 applications.
Training was done, and about 14 projects were
financed as loans were disbursed to successful
candidates. The Social Policy Advisory
Project (CTPS) of the GTZ Yaounde accorded to Kumbo Council,
Finances worth 15,802,000 FCFA for the realization of the project.
These loans are gradually being recovered. |
