The foremost political parties that stir the political scene in Kumbo are the S.D.F, the C.P.D.M, the U.N.D.P, and the U.P.C. However, the Social Democratic Front (S.D.F) dominates in the Kumbo partisan political set up, and they are followed from a great distance by the C.P.D.M.

The affairs of the Kumbo Council are run by an entirely S.D.F democratically elected council team, that is headed by a Mayor - Mr Njong Fonyuy Donatus. This party took over the council in 1996 after democratic elections. The SDF again won in 2002. As if that were not enough, the S.D.F recently won the 2007 Municipal Elections. Also remarkable is the fact that through out this period, Kumbo Parliamentary seat in the National Assembly has been occupied by S.D.F candidates for these 3 consecutive terms. March
